If your reports have stopped showing up in Slack, don't worry. It's almost always one of two simple things: PushMetrics needs to reconnect to Slack, or the bot just hasn't been invited to the channel yet. Here's how to sort each one out.

"No access token found": reconnect the integration

If you're seeing errors like "no access token found", your Slack connection has simply dropped and needs re-authorizing. Head to Data & Integrations, find your Slack integration, and click Edit.

  • See an "Add to Slack" button? That means there's no valid connection right now. Click it to reconnect, and that's all it takes.
  • If instead you see "Disconnect from Slack", you're already connected, and the issue is probably channel access (see below).

Reconnecting is completely safe. Your reports and destinations stay exactly as they are. And if you recently moved to the new version of PushMetrics, this reconnect is expected: the new version uses a fresh Slack app, so older integrations need a one-time re-authorization.

"Channel not found": invite the bot

For PushMetrics to post into a private channel, it has to be a member of that channel. Slack won't let any app post somewhere it hasn't been invited. To add it:

  1. Open the channel in Slack and type /invite.
  2. Pick the PushMetrics app from the list. Quick tip: the current app has the purple-and-white icon, so if you see a black one, that's the old app and you'll want purple instead.
  3. Re-run the report and you should be good to go.

If a channel comes up as "missing" while you're importing recipients, it's usually just a private channel the bot hasn't joined yet, so invite it the same way.

One Slack integration per workspace

A quick rule of thumb: you only need one Slack integration per Slack workspace. (Multiple integrations only make sense if you're connecting to genuinely different Slack workspaces.)

If you created a second integration while troubleshooting, your existing reports won't automatically switch over to it, but you don't have to re-point them by hand. Just reach out and we'll move all your Slack destinations onto the right integration and clean up the old one for you.

A few other things worth knowing

  • "account_inactive" usually means the PushMetrics app got removed from your Slack workspace, often by an admin or an automated app-review bot. Reconnect via "Add to Slack" and you're back in business.
  • Want recipients to re-run a report straight from Slack? You can add a Reload button to your messages. Look under the Slack block's Advanced Options.
  • Heads-up on the old /pm command: the current Slack bot delivers reports to channels and people, but it no longer supports the old /pm slash command that pulled images from Tableau.
