Finally a Slack integration for Tableau

Request, See & Discuss Tableau Views directly in Slack

If I had to pick two business apps that were game changers for me, without any doubt, it would be Slack and Tableau.

When I first got my hands on Slack I instantly knew that this is what team communication is supposed to be like.
I had a similar feeling when I launched Tableau the first time. To me, it’s the best data visualisation tool out there.

That’s why I’m extremely excited to announce that we, PushMetrics, are launching an integration that brings Tableau and Slack together.

Without communication and collaboration around your data, even the best Tableau dashboard is basically worthless. And where is the best place to have that communication? In Slack of course. Because everyone is already there and you can easily provide the necessary context (your data) to inspire a conversation.

What if your sales team, marketers and your whole team could have exactly the right information at their finger tips when they need them and instantly start a discussion about it?

When you have your Tableau visualisations pushed into your Slack channels, something amazing can happen:
Someone will notice something interesting in the data and can instantly gather everyone around that insight, questions get asked (and answered) quickly and your data is being used the way it should be: to take action, to drive decisions and to make everyone smarter.

So here is how it looks like:

Things you can do with it

💬 Request Tableau Views out of Slack

Slack users will be able to request Tableau views & dashboards directly out of Slack just by interacting with the Slack App. Simply type something like /pm Daily KPI Reportand you’ll have it delivered a few seconds later.

Here’s a sneak peak:

📅 Scheduled Tableau Reports

Once you have Tableau and Slack connected to PushMetrics, you can set up reports that run by any schedule and deliver one or more Tableau views into any public or private Slack channel as well as via direct message.

📎 Attachments

What get’s posted in Slack by default is a PNG of the view or dashboard that you can enlarge in Slack to see details. You can also choose to include links to ready-to-download PDF and CSV exports, as wells as a link to the live view in Tableau. You can also directly request PDFs or CSVs if you use the command /pm pdf or /pm csv .

🔎 Filters

You can apply any filters available in your Tableau view when you set up your reports in PushMetrics. Those filters get applied and a filtered version of your view gets delivered into Slack. With that you can utilise a single dashboard across multiple reports.

✌️Receive Instant Feedback

Ok, Emojis are already part of Slack — but we believe they are not just fun but also really powerful to provide instant feedback about your reporting.
We plan to add much more functionality around feedback for analysts in the future. You’ll be able to track how your team interacts with your data, which reports get used the most and are considered useful and which dashboards lead to the most engaged discussions. All to make you smarter about what’s relevant for your team.

Ok, so how do I get this?

It’s super easy to add PushMetrics to your Slack team. Just go to our website and click on the “Add to Slack” Button to sign up with PushMetrics. Next, you just need to connect PushMetrics with your Tableau Server or Tableau Online and you’re ready to roll.

As you can see, there’s a bunch of things you can do when connecting Tableau and Slack and many more things are about to come. We can’t wait to hear your feedback and ideas! Let us know what you think and shoot us an email (julian@pushmetrics.io) or leave a comment here.
